Summerscape? nah

“Enthusiasm is the greatest asset in the world. It beats money, power, and influence.” -Henry Chester
It's too bad that is not appreciated by all. I'm in the third week of my electives and I am bored out of my mind! Neuromedical and surgical postings were great, the people were accommodating and willing to teach in addition to the bouts of passovers, rounds, OTs and oncalls....I was kept pumped through it all by pure adrenaline. Now in Orthopedics, things are quite "chilled" as the would say and I have a feeling I am not taken seriously at times, but hey it takes a little time till things warm up I guess, electives ends Aug 12th. I think this is the perfect time to catch up on some sleep.

Blessed

Currently Listening to: Dan Auerbach - When The Night Comes
Yesterday was Dad's birthday  :) I love and miss him to bits. Also USM confirmed my posting for both departments, I wasn't expecting a reply til another three weeks, but I'm grateful that it came out as a favorable outcome. What an awesome day so far.
I had a presentation yesterday and all the while that bit was in my mind, but now that its all confirmed I can relax. Its a Thursday morning and I feel flipping happy, I think I'm gonna jog to the store make a nice breakfast and check in at 9:00.

Brain dump

Currently Listening to: Mumford&Sons - Winter Winds
Instead of updating the previous post I thought I'd post an entirely new one. I'll still post the sandstorm pictures when I get around to them.

I get creative writing thoughts whilst in the shower or whilst cooking... Anyways, next week is finals and after 47 days I will be done with the first year :) My only wish is for the world not to plunge into any more disarray and that I have sufficient time to graduate and do good before all hell breaks loose.

I've sent an application for an internship at USM :) They replied that I was matched for 2 of my choices, ortho and neuro, they will confirm in the next 3 weeks. I'm excited, finally being able to go home and experience "normalcy" soon.

I don't usually write at length about my thoughts cause its usually very spontaneous and if I were to write them down as they come they'd be like "I'm grateful...missing pancakes and gah I need to focus more" yeah those made sense but sometimes it'd just random thoughts that only me sense to me.

I need to improve on my brain dumping skills so that I may focus my thoughts on other important matters. So for the first time I'm gonna start a "Brain-dump" list which basically lists the random thoughts or things I had/done throughout the day. Here it goes:
  • In approximately 16mins I'll be able to watch Ep 20 of House MD.
  • I woke up with the acronym ALIVE and my personal fav OhOhOhToTouchAndFeelAGirl'sV-AhHeaven stuck in my head, though conveniently enough cause it was a clinical day today.
  • Seriously I had the worst craving for waffles, pancakes and maple syrup this past week. I miss the bakerei.
  • I slept at 3pm yesterday, woke up at 10pm did work til 6am then napped for 30mins and went to class feeling mighty fresh.
  • I need to sleep less, I wonder if they make caffeine infused cinnabuns?

The Illative faculty of mind

Its been a while : )
53 days left til summer hols :) I miss home, I miss lax and I miss actual food ; ). Class got cancelled yesterday  due to a sandstorm, it was really interesting and I'll post up a couple of pictures I snapped with the phone some time later today. Above is A.A Bondy with "Mightiest of Guns", which I find to be one of the most beautiful songs I've heard.

Yawn.

Currently Listening to: Tokyo Police Club - Hands Reversed.
Now that I have a my own blog there's a constant urge to post something,  so I'm racking my brains about what to write as there is not much going on right now. Summer's been a breeze...I finally got the much needed break from all the stuff at the beginning of the year. There's still about 3 weeks of summer left before heading back to college on the 25th, despite classes starting on the 18th.

Haven't been out much this summer-actually there's not much point in going out since the weather has been hotter than usual, no doubt due to global warming. So far we've hard two freak sandstorms, the first one was violent enough it took down most of the tarps covering the car parks and some sign posts. The second one was milder but both resembled the scene from "The Mummy". If only global warming would bring more rain or snow to this region then I'm all for it.

Counting down the days.

Currently Listening to: FMTM - Sharpshooter
I've been listening to a lot of "Math rock" lately, its calming. Currently listening to From Monument To Masses (FMTM), along with Toe from Japan. Anyone interested should check FMTM out. On a different note, I met a surgeon last week who actually listens to music during surgery, pretty awesome, though I wouldn't imagine a surgeon listening to slipknot during open surgery :)
